The Archbishop of Ibadan Province and the Bishop of Diocese of Osun North (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Abiodun Olaoye, has charged the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to take a cue from the giant stride of the famous industrialist and the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who has solved one of the Nigeria’s greatest challenges by establishing a refinery that will improve the energy situation in the country.
Olaoye further stressed that the initiative would not only address the current challenges of the country, but also create more jobs for Nigerians, as well as have a great influence on the nation’s economy.
Olaoye made this statement while giving his bishop’s charge, last Friday with the theme, “The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving and Praise”, at the third session of the fifth synod of the diocese hosted by the Okuku Archdeaconry, at Oba Moses Oyinlola Memorial Anglican Church, Okuku, Osun State.
The cleric also charged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restructure Nigeria, ensure accountability, and also run a people-oriented government so as to bring about peace in the country.
“Restructuring will solve a lot of our problems in this nation. He should encourage his political colleagues to stop, for God’s sake, their selfishness and restructure this nation soonest.
“We enjoin every Nigerian to pray four President Tinubu and his government in our homes, churches and mosques so that peace and prosperity may reign in Nigeria,” he added.
While commeding Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on his developmental strides since he assumed office, Olaoye, urged him not to renege on his promises of taking the state to a greater height.
The venue was set agog when the archbishop announced the preferment elevation of some priests, including, Reverend Canon C. O. Ademilokun to Archdeacon; Reverend Canon S. A. Fawole to Statutory Canon of the Cathedral;Reverend M. S. Ajayi to the Statutory Canon of the Cathedral;Reverend B. D. Olorunsaiye to Honorary Canon, and Reverend T. K. Jesuniyi to Honorary Canon.
Some of the dignitaries that were honoured at the event are: Mrs Folasade Oyinlola; Mr and Mrs Jospeh Jaiyeola; Pastor Olusoji Aderemi; Mr Olufemi Olaiya; Chief Kayode Egbeleye; Chief (Mrs) Abisoye Egbeleye; Ms Florence Olugbile; Mr Adedoyin Adeyela; Prince Toyese Oyinlola,and Prince Ademola Oyinlola, amomg others.
