The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Samuel Asagba, has vowed that the institution will maintain its leading position among state-owned universities in the country.

“My vision is to make DELSU a centre of academic excellence producing employable graduates with critical thinking skills and a sense of nationalism,” stressed the university helmsman.
“When I came on board, there were a lot of worrisome issues, ranging from extortion, sexual harassment and all forms of unpalatable issues, but now, all that have gone.
“I am one year, four months old in office, my administration has made a lot of changes to make both the staff and students comfortable, even a lot of both the academic staff and workers have been promoted within this period.”
According to him, a lot of projects, including renovation of classrooms and the theatre hall, are being executed, adding that bigger projects geared towards improving facilities in the institution are also underway.
Promising that students’ school fees will not be increased, Prof. Asagba announced plans to launch a fundraising initiative to promote sport in the institution.
