The people of Boi in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi have been commended for embarking on the construction of a new Police station to enhance security of lives and properties.

The commendation was made by the Caretaker Chairman of Bogoro LGC, Markus Bitrus Lusa during the foundation laying ceremony of the project on Saturday.

Markus Bitrus Lusa commended the people for their selfless service and sacrifice for the good of the community stressing that it was a laudable project.

The Caretaker Chairman said, “I want to commend those who contributed to this project. What you have done is worthy of emulation. I want other communities to learn.”

The Chairman was represented at the ceremony by his Vice, Timothy Andrew calling on philanthropists and well-to-do members of the community to support the Police in ensuring safety of life and properties.

In his speech, the National President, Boi Progressive Association (BPA), Rev Philemon Kichime (JP) said that the people of Boi will continue to offer Police, the required moral support to enable them to discharge their constitutional duties of protecting and securing effectively.

Philemon Kichime also stated that it was observed that the Police lacked befitting office accommodation in the community and to motivate them to do their job, the community decided to embark on the project.

The BPA President further disclosed that the new Police station comprises of reception, armoury, male and female cells, and offices.

According to him, “The project is being singlehandedly sponsored by some few individuals within the community.”

He then urged members of the community to make their contributions no matter how little to enable the project to be completed before the end of the year.

In a remark, the Project Coordinator, Godiya Haruna expressed gratitude to those who supported the initiative and pledged that the next project to be carried out in the community is the construction of the Magistrate Court complex.

He assured that the community will continue to embark on self-helped developmental projects and programmes knowing that government alone cannot do everything as contained in a statement by Gomna James,
Information officer, Bogoro LGA.
