COVID-19
It is commonly held that necessity is the mother of invention. This aptly captures the present condition of many countries including Nigeria, following the COVID-19 pandemic which currently has the world in its grip. For instance, following measures to curb the spread on the virus, governments at various levels have limited gatherings in public places. This has reduced unnecessary gatherings and parties which are notorious for waste.
The use of online transactions both in banking and commercial activities has seen a remarkable boost. For long, the Nigerian education sector was reluctant in embracing online tutoring. However with the present reality, electronic learning is receiving the required attention at levels of learning. Today, we are adopting advanced technologies with their attendant advantages. In like manner, conference meetings and court proceedings across many parts of the country have been taken online which signifies a major benefit for the post COVID-19 experience. There are many lessons and benefits to be derived from the pandemic provided we see all these as conditions of necessity that must be learnt from.
While for some it may be difficult to see the good in all of these, the handicaps can be surmounted and the results can be tremendous. Nigeria has a lot of benefit from the post-coronavirus era. The economy of our dear country rests on all of us to ensure that it is rebuilt. All sectors of our economy need revamping and this is a collective responsibility. Even the very epicenter of the pandemic, China, has started to build its economy with all citizens contributing immensely. Nigeria should not be an exception. We must have all hands on deck to ensure that this happens.
