Be an example to unbelievers, younger preacher charges children

Published by

Isaiah Bayode has charged children and young Christians to draw closer to God and be a good example to unbelievers anywhere they find themselves.

The teenage preacher, Bayode, made this charge last Sunday during the 28th Children Anniversary of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) located at Oke Ife, Agbowo, Ibadan, with the theme “For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favour from the Lord,” gotten from (Proverbs 8:35).

Bayode, whose Yoruba interrupter was another teenager, Miss OkikiJesu Emmanuel − divided his sermon into six parts: How we can find God, reasons we need to find God, the importance of finding God, the dangers of not finding God, the hindrance in finding God, and the day God will return through His son.

He stressed that one can find God through prayer, faith, love, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit, adding that as a student or a businessperson, one can only succeed through the knowledge inherent in the bible.

Bayode listed the benefits of seeking and finding God to include – but not limited to − getting favours and blessings, obtaining knowledge and truth, fulfilling one’s purpose and destiny, and more importantly, inheriting God’s kingdom.

He urged Christians to be careful of the things of the flesh, warning that sin is the major hindrance in seeking and finding God. You cannot be in sin and find God.

He concluded his sermon by emphasising that anyone who is not living in God is living a fruitless life.

The children’s coordinator of the church, Pastor Samuel Ogungbemi, stated that the children’s anniversary was an event everyone in the church looked up to and was happy the children made them proud.

Ogungbemi noted that part of the children’s anniversary programme included awarding people who have supported the children’s department of the church in wonderful ways.

The anniversary also featured an award present presentation to some dignitaries including, Mrs Glory Temitope Oladunjaye, Mrs Tessy Armstrong-Bello; Mr Joseph Ekundayo Shonibare, and Mrs Afolake Alabi.

In the course of the event, there were debate and quiz competitions, bible reading and drama, awards presentations to children, and the graduation of senior secondary (SS2) students of the church.
