People Living with Disabilities (PWDs), in Bauchi State, have been urged to imbibe the spirit of ability in disability by not sitting down idle doing nothing.

The call was by the Arc Mukhtar Jarmajo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), while addressing a cross section of the PWDs, particularly, cripples amongst them.

He stressed that the focus of the BWSO is to awaken the sense of disability in PWDs, adding that the aim is to ensure that they did not just sit down doing nothing but engage in begging.

Mukhtar Jarmajo added, “We want to ensure that nobody is discriminated against because of physical challenge. We are all created by Allah equally, the fact that you are physically challenged does not take anything away from you.”

He added that the BWSO Is determined to give life to the PWDs across the State because they have equal opportunities of existence like others who are physically alright.

Mukhtar Jarmajo then announced that one of the women PWDs has been given an automatic employment in the organisation and she is to resume on Monday immediately.

He also announced the donation of the sum of N500,000 to be distributed among the 150 cripples who attended the meeting as well as bags of rice for the purpose of the ongoing Month of Ramadan fasting.

In his remarks, Chairman of Physically Challenged Association in Bauchi LGA, Tahir Malam Goje, commended BWSO for organizing the sensitization meeting, saying that it came at the right time when such was needed.

He stressed that with such assurances, physically challenged people will be motivated to rise up to the challenges they are facing and will bring out ability in each disability.

He assured that the money will be judiciously utilised by the beneficiaries assuring also that henceforth, they will engage themselves in useful ventures.

In her reaction, the Woman Leader of the PWDs in Bauchi LGA, Fatima commended BWSO for the gesture, especially the employment of one of them, saying that it is a morale booster for them because it was unexpected.

She assured that whoever amongst them qualified for the offer will be duly supported by others to ensure that she succeeds in order to serve as example to others.
