The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to intensify reforms aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
The commitment was made on Saturday at the Forum’s meeting which held in Lagos and hosted by the State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The gathering brought together governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to review the country’s political and economic outlook and enhance coordination among APC-led states.
Reading the communique, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, said the Forum is aligned with Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the economy, improve national security, and strengthen critical sectors including food production, power, transportation, and social investment.
He stressed that all ongoing reforms vis-à-vis economic, security-related, and infrastructural must ultimately translate into better living conditions for Nigerians.
The governors also acknowledged the economic pressures citizens are facing as a result of current macroeconomic adjustments, commending Nigerians for their resilience and patience.
To cushion the impact of these reforms, the Forum announced plans to scale up interventions in food production, support for small businesses, youth employment programmes, and social protection initiatives for vulnerable households.
They emphasised the need for robust collaboration with federal and local governments.
Highlighting infrastructure as a key priority, the governors described Lagos as a model for transportation and urban renewal.
They pledged increased investments in roads, housing, water supply, digital infrastructure, and climate-resilient projects to build more liveable communities across APC states.
On security, the PGF praised the improved synergy between security agencies and local structures nationwide.
The governors promised to strengthen community-based security systems, enhance intelligence gathering, and promote social cohesion, while condemning hate speech and divisive rhetoric.
The Forum also underscored the importance of effective local governance, committing to deeper reforms that will promote transparency, accountability, and better service delivery at the grassroots.
They vowed to expand citizen engagement through town hall meetings, consultations, and partnerships with civil society and traditional institutions.
Reassuring supporters of the APC, the PGF reiterated its loyalty to the party leadership and pledged to continue fostering unity, discipline, and reconciliation within the party.
The governors described themselves as “trustees of the people’s mandate” and vowed to deliver tangible results across all APC-controlled states.
Expressing optimism about the country’s future, the Forum called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and supportive of government initiatives as the year winds down.
