Adekunle Gold blows hot

Published by

Musician, Adekunle Gold, has said he may have been a forgotten music artiste if he had not moved up his style of music when he did some years back.

His music experienced a transformation that left many of his fans wondering what could have prompted the father of one to switch things up. From being a folksy highlife singer to a more contemporary pop artiste, Adekunle Gold seemed to have struck gold when he ditched his ‘old self’.

A section of his fans criticized him. Some even warned that if care was not taken, he could be on his way to musical oblivion.

But Gold did not only change his music, he also changed his looks and body. His once slim figure gave way to a chubby AG Baby as he now calls himself.

The singer, while sharing his experience in an interactive Twitter session, said change remains the only constant thing in life, adding that “I decided to do what makes me happy and be audacious going for what I want and how I want to achieve it.”

According to the Shade crooner, making up his mind to change the style and face of his music against the advice of some of his fans helped him to remain in the game till now.

He stated further that being audacious and not following the rules made by some people was the game changer, one that he remained grateful for.

“I am one man who likes dancing to his tunes and I thank God for my loyal fans who stuck with me on the journey and allowed me to be me.

“Some of you trolled me when I released Catch Me If You Can (CMIYC) but it has remained my successful music project yet. I am happy that it came out the way I wanted it sonically and my fans love it,” he said.

With a new album coming, Gold urged his fans to get ready. It is another switched up music for him and he has titled it “Tio Tequila Time.”

He has however not revealed what the album title means and how he arrived at such a name.

Gold dropped a note of warning for those trying to compare his music to other artistes in the music industry through different polls on social media platforms.

“I am cut from a different cloth. There is nobody like me in the music industry. I can do what they do; they can’t do what I do. Thank you to everyone rocking with me,” he added.
