The Action Alliance (AA) party in Zamfara State has condemned the attack on its 2027 presidential candidate, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, which occurred during a burial ceremony on Saturday. The party described the attack as a direct assault on democracy.

In a statement issued on Sunday evening in Gusau, the Zamfara State chairman of AA, Alhaji Shehu Hussaini Waziri, called on security agencies to investigate the incident.

The statement reads in parts: “The Zamfara state Action Alliance strongly condemns the unfortunate attack of its Presidential candidate Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, which occurred on Saturday at a burial ceremony activities held at Ekusa, Odo Otin LGA, Osun State.

“This cowardly act is a direct assault on democracy, an attempt to intimidate the opposition political party, denying them their mandate.

“Our 2027 Presidential Candidate and his teeming supporters would remain committed to national justice, peaceful coexistence and struggle for a prosperous Nigeria despite the undemocratic attitude of some unpatriotic people.

“The safety of every citizen should remain sacrosanct to security operatives, we all on our supporters to remain calm, committed, law-abiding for peace and progress of our state and country at large.” The Statement concluded.
