10,000 PDP supporters dump party for APC in Nasarawa

NO fewer than 10,000 supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), have decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Nasarawa State.

The decampees were led by a three term member of the Federal House of Representative, Samuel Egye, who represented Toto/Nasarawa Federal Constituency in the state.

Speaking to newsmen, on Friday, at the APC state Secretariat in Lafia, Egye said his decision to decamp to the APC was informed by the development strides of the party both at the state and national level.

He added that his decision to decamp to the APC has pulled out 10,000 supporters from PDP saying the defection was done in consultation with the critical stakeholders and communities from his constituency.

Egye said that, though he was in PDP for more than 16 years, but he appreciated what APC has been doing even as an opposition.

“Politics is all about development and since the state government has developed virtually all sectors of the economy in the state, what is the need for us to stay outside and criticise,” he said.

He therefore called on and sundry to give the APC led government the needed support to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

On his part, the state Chairman of the APC Philip–Tatari-Shekwo  thanked the former lawmaker for appreciating what the party is doing in the state and the country at large.

He assured the decampees of equal rights and privileges with old members of the party.
