Nigerians on social media have continued to react differently to the announcement of Wednesday, September 6, by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, as the day to deliver judgment on the petition filed, challenging the declaration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.
Recall that the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, challenged the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election in their various petitions.
In the latest development on the petition, the Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari, confirmed the date in a press statement on Monday. He said the judgment will be televised live by interested television stations for the public to follow, promoting transparency and openness at no cost to the Court.
Since the announcement was made, Nigerians on social media who are eager to hear the judgment on the petitions have taken to social media to react differently to the development.
Reacting to the development on X (Formerly Twitter), a user @TonyeBarcanista wrote, “Wednesday is the D-day that the PEPC will determine the Petitions by Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar & others against Bola Tinubu, APC & INEC. Everyone is calling for justice from the Court of Appeal (PEPC). What is Justice to you ⚖️?”
Another user, @DavimartinCEO tweeted, “They did not televise the proceedings, now they want to televise this. I don’t have television at home. I am coming to court.”
“Now they’re interested in beaming it live for the general public, what changed?
“People will always try to stop you from doing the right thing if it is unconventional. It’s never wrong to do the right thing. We should Always do right – this will gratify some and astonish the rest.” @Luupapa1 tweeted.
@temismart2 wrote, “Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, the day Nigeria regains her freedom or burn!”
“We are seriously waiting to hear what they want to tell us as their final judgment.” @babacharles24 opined.
