WAEC debunks online tutorial for 2024 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has distanced itself from a website which is inviting unsuspected prospective candidates for the 2024 school-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE) to register online for the council’s organised classes.

The organisation said it had no knowledge of such online lesson nor directed any individual or organisation to carry out such assignment at any time on its behalf.

The head of National Office of WAEC Nigeria, Mr Amos Dangut, refuted the claim in a statement made available by the council’s spokesperson, Mrs Moyosola Adesina, on Wednesday.

According to him, WAEC attention has been drawn to a website purporting to offer online classes on its behalf  for prospective WASSCE candidates.

“And want to state clearly that WAEC has no affiliation nor connection with such website calling for registration for online lesson.

“So, we strongly urge stakeholders and general public to beware of the website, as it may potentially be a spam or phishing platform aimed at capturing personal information for fraudulent and illegitimate purposes.

“WAEC has only one official e-learning portal for candidates seeking instructions and recommendations on approaching and tackling examination questions.

“Therefore, we encourage our prospective candidates to always visit our e-learning portal at https://www.waeconline.org.ng/e-Learning for reliable information.

“In addition, candidates can also log on to https://waeckonnect.com, a web-based electronic information sharing and dissemination system.”

Dangut explained that WAECKonnect is a platform  that facilitates effective communication between the Council and candidates before, during and after the conduct of examinations and also gives rooms for  candidates to interact among themselves and get first-hand information and notifications from the council.

He added that WAEC would remain committed to excellence and service to the Nigerian child as regards the conduct of its exams and issue of certificates.
