UNIZIK moves from 4,494 to 1,500 in world rankings

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State (UNIZIK), has moved from 4,494th position to 1,500th position in the latest world university rankings for 2024.

The university also took 12th position in Nigeria in the rankings recently released in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2024 results.

This had triggered jubilation in the university community as it was seen as a feat achieved by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, who set the task for himself on assumption to office in 2019 to bring the university to world reckoning.

A member of the university community who spoke to newsmen hinted, “In the THE World University rankings for 2024, UNIZIK ranked in Category A at number 12 position in Nigeria and in the 1,500 band in the world.

“This is a great jump from 4,494 in the world in 2019 and a success story for Project 200 and this administration led by our VC, Professor Charles Esimone.”
