The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has inducted  945 graduating students of the Federal College of Education, Special (FCEs) Oyo, into the teaching profession in the country.

The Registrar of the council, Professor  Olusegun Ajiboye, gave the hint in the college on Thursday   during the official induction ceremony held for the successful candidates who sat for the council’s qualified professional examination held recently.

The Registrar noted that the college is one of the best institutions in the country with outstanding performance in the council’s professional examinations since the college started enrolling for the examination.  He expressed satisfaction with the quality of education  being offered in the college.

Professor Ajiboye declared that the council had registered over 2 million teachers and also licensed about 4000 teachers in the country.

“It is worthy of note that TRCN teaching professional  Certificate/ license is globally acceptable for teaching jobs in the United Kingdom, Canada and in the United States of America. Now, there are teaching job vacancies for  TRCN registered professional and licensed Nigerian teachers in the United State of America.

“Success of Nigerian teachers at local and international Job markets in this 21st century  teaching profession requires a  sound knowledge and expertise in Information Computer Technology (ICT) .  It is  therefore advisable for Nigerian teachers to acquire  skills in  ICT, obtain professional teaching certificate and license for their relevance even at the global market.”

The Provost of the institution, Dr Ademola Rauf  Salami, in his address, declared that the college would continue to produce quality graduates who will impact lives for positive change of our society and for the global market.

The provost, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Adekunle Adebiyi, at the occasion urged the newly inductees from the college to do everything within their capacity to always protect the good image of the institution and sanity of the license they collected. He charged them to be good ambassadors of the college wherever they find themselves.

He said: “I believe that well grounded teachers in the profession hold the key to the solution of the Nigeria education system. You hereby charged to go out there and make the necessary positive change that this country needs to move forward in teaching and learning.

“No matter how beautiful and well equipped a school is, it is the teachers that make the difference that will impact the lives of the pupils and students. So, the greatest asset of a school is the personality of its teachers. Teaching profession is a profession through which all other professions are created, or developed. Therefore, if our  country will experience the desired change that will manifest the renewed hope of a greater nation, teachers have an important role to play.  Our college, on our part, has always been  concerned about the quality of our products, having taken them through the skills and principles  necessary for their optimum performance in general and special education,”.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of 2023 College Induction Committee of the institution,  Dr Olugbenga  Ojebisi, declared that being a teacher is not a task for the fainthearted individual, rather demands fortitude and resilience in the face of adversity and challenges.

He noted that teachers serve as beacons of hope, helping students navigate the complexities of life, inspiring them to dream bigger, to believe in themselves and to overcome obstacles. “The impact of a teacher extends far beyond the boundaries of  the classroom but leaves an indelible mark on the lives of those they teach,” he stated.
