SOHK partners Australia based SHEMAPS, to boost science education

The School of Hard Knocks Talents, Nigeria, has entered into a partnership with an Australia-based SHEMAPS in order to address the dwindling standard of science education in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of SOHK, Dr. Jerry Akubo, made the disclosure at a press briefing in Abuja.

Akubo, who raised concern over the dwindling standard of science education, noted that it poses a threat to the growth of the sector.

He added that the development necessitated the organisation’s decision to bring together critical stakeholders at home and in diaspora to revamp the situation.

According to him, SOHK Talents is bringing together senior representatives from the worlds of technology, academia, and industry, including artificial intelligence (AI), to develop technological responses to evolving educational challenges throughout Africa and beyond.

The failing and dwindling standard of education in some third-world countries, including Nigeria, the dwindling interest in science subjects among students, and the fear of mathematics among youths will be addressed thoroughly.

He disclosed further, “The partnership will further boost the ongoing collaboration between the School of Hardknocks Nigeria and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in fifteen government schools where 450 students in FCT, Abuja, are already on board.

Also, the foundation drone education programme, Classroom Drone Essentials, has been developed by teachers and drone experts to help more teachers engage a greater diversity of students and make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics more inclusive.
