Private hospitals to help improve Sokoto health sector — Wamakko

A former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has emphasized that the provision of more private hospitals will contribute to the improvement of the health sector in the state.

Wamakko made this statement while inaugurating a private hospital named ‘Foresight Premier Hospitals’ founded by a native of the state, Dr Shamsu Aliyu, on Monday.

As the Special Guest at the event, the governor commended the founder of the health centre for his commendable foresight and encouraged other well-meaning individuals in the state to emulate him. He emphasized that the establishment of private hospitals would bring healthcare services closer to the people.

Wamakko called on the residents of the state to support and patronize the hospital, thus encouraging the establishment of more private healthcare facilities in the region.

Furthermore, Wamakko confirmed that he had also built a private hospital in the state, which would soon be unveiled as part of his efforts to provide effective healthcare service delivery.

The former governor also praised the efforts of Dr Mansur Isah Buhari and Dr Bashir Muhammad Achida, both from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, for their role in enlightening the general public about their rights.

Dr Shamsu Aliyu, in his remarks, expressed his plans to establish more hospitals in the region and across the nation. He stated that this was his way of providing relief to the indigent people in the state.

Dr Mansur Isah Buhari, also from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, highlighted that the ultra-modern, world-class hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The 24-bed capacity hospital includes an operation room, pharmacy, labour room, ICU, male and female amenity wards, and a recovery room, among other necessary facilities for effective healthcare provision.

Dr Buhari mentioned that the hospital would create about 300 job opportunities for the people of the state.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Mai Kahon Karo Road in Sokoto, was attended by numerous dignitaries from within and outside the state.
