PDP spokesperson clarifies choice of Bala Muhammad’s new running mate

Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed institutions that the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir who is the party’s gubernatorial candidate for 2023 general elections dumped his Deputy, Sen Baba Tela for the second tenure.

The PDP explained that the decision to have another gubernatorial running mate for the 2023 elections was a collective decision by stakeholders of the party from the Northern zone which is to produce the gubernatorial running mate for the candidate.
While reacting to the development following reports in the media, Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Yayanuwa Zainabari on Tuesday emphasized that Governor Mohammed did not dump Baba Tela and picked Auwal Jatau as his running mate.
Yayanuwa Zainabari explained that contrary to the report, the Governor and his Deputy are working together in harmony to ensure the success of the party in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, the Deputy Gubernatorial candidate of the Party, Auwal Jatau was quoted out of context, stressing that there was nowhere in his statement that he said the Governor dumped his Deputy for him saying that the report was the figment of the imagination of reporters and mischief from Political actors.
Yayanuwa Zainabari further said that instead of political actors in the state to fan embers of discord between the two, they should rather channel their energy towards supporting the present administration to continue the ongoing good work in the areas of infrastructural development, empowerment and unity amongst the various interests in the state.
The PDP spokesperson said that the issue of changing the Deputy Governor in the 2023 election was a decision reached by the Governor and stakeholders from the Bauchi North Senatorial district adding that the incumbent Deputy Governor is enjoying the cordial relationship existing between him and the Governor.
“So heating the polity was unnecessary and uncalled for. People are trying to create confusion where there shouldn’t be”.
“It is still the same family, the Governor and his Deputy are in good terms, and they talk regularly, and sometimes take decisions together, so, let’s be fair to the two political leaders that we have and stop trying to create confusion amongst them”, he claimed.
He stressed that “There is destiny in all aspects of human life, and whatever happened is destiny with the consent of all stakeholders, while the new Deputy Gubernatorial candidate Auwal Jatau will be unveiled when we start the campaign”.
