OAU political science alumni elect pioneer officers

The 1993 set of Political Science graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University( OAU), Ile-Ife, have elected pioneer officers to steer the affairs of their newly registered alumni association.

They elected the officers at their get-together event in Ota, Ogun State, last week following the dissolution of their three-man interim committee, which had been directing the affairs of the association for the last three years.

The Vice Chairman of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Lagos State, Mr. Lanre Anjolaiya, emerged as the chairman of the group in the election while the founder of Ultimate College, Ota, Ogun State, Mr Kunle Omobomi and the Chairman of Osun State Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Tope Mustapha emerged as the Vice Chairman and Secretary, respectively.

Others are Sarafadeen Ayoola (Assistant Secretary), Folasade Bajo-Akinyele (Treasurer); Akin Akinnagbe (Welfare Officer) and Moruf Kareem (Financial Secretary).

They are to serve for two years but can recontest if so wish for a second term for the same office.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Lanre Anjolaiya, thanked the association’s members for finding him worthy to serve them even after doing the same in an interim capacity for the last three years.

He promised that the association would certainly prioritize their welfare in every way possible and also give back to OAU and, particularly to the Political Science Department that produced them.

He, however, solicited the support and cooperation of all members both at home and in the diaspora, saying that is the only way the association can achieve the purpose of its formation.

He said on his part, he would do all he could to ensure he lives up to expectations demanded of his office.
