Nigeria records 1,074 new COVID-19 cases, total rises to 88,587

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,074 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 88,587.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

“On the 1st of January 2021, 1074 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 88587 cases have been confirmed, 74373 cases have been discharged and 1294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 1074 new cases are reported from 15 states- Lagos (642), Kaduna (92), Rivers (78), FCT (66), Gombe (66), Kano (35), Ogun (31), Katsina (22), Plateau (20), Abia (7), Niger (4), Oyo (4), Akwa Ibom (3), Delta (2), and Osun (2),” the NCDC said.
