Francis Wale Oke
The new president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke has described the worrisome state of Nigeria as a nation at a crossroad.
This, Wale Oke who is also the Presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan, attributed to insecurity, marginalisation, corruption among other ills bedevilling the nation.
In a release by his media office, he deplored the situation while playing host on Monday, to the Oyo State Chapter of the PFN led by its Chairman, Rev Samson Ajetunmobi who had come to felicitate with him on his recent election.
The renowned cleric bemoaned that both the military and the political class had failed the nation and its people.
In this wise, Wale Oke noted that it was high time the church rose up to fill in the gap through constructive engagements and prayers for the country to regain its lost glory
He pointed out that though the PFN was not a political organisation, the body’s President, however, pleaded that Christians should not lose their guards in the task ahead, stressing; “More than ever before, the nation and the church need prayers”
While calling for cooperation among Christian bodies in the country for him and his team to succeed, he promised to justify the confidence reposed in him as manifested in his election. Wale Oke thanked the Oyo State Chapter of the Fellowship for their visit and implored them to be a shining light by not allowing division of any kind in their midst.
Earlier, Oyo PFN Chairman, Rev Ajetumobi had congratulated him, describing his emergence as the 7th President of the body as significant.
Ajetunmobi who lamented the deplorable situation in the country urged Bishop Wale Oke and his team to always speak up for the people and the nation.
“Sir, the situation in our country is disturbing. As such, we urge you to always speak up against injustice, marginalisation and insecurity, among others. currently assailing our land”
The chapter pledged its loyalty to the new PFN president, assuring him of unflinching support at all times.
