Nasarawa state government has assured residents that despite the paucity of funds, the administration will continue to expand road networks and provide other social amenities across the state one step at a time.
The Nasarawa state commissioner for works and housing, Muazu Adamu Gosho stated this during an inspection tour of the ongoing road projects embarked upon by Governor Abdulahi Sule in the three senatorial districts of the state.
The commissioner was accompanied on the inspection by top engineers of the ministry and other management staff.
He first inspected the road projects in Nassawa west senatorial district, beginning with the 48. 7 Km Toto- Umaisha road, in the Toto local government area of the state, being rehabilitated and upgraded to ensure a proper and smooth connection between the two communities. The road is awarded to ELA construction company.
In Karu local government, the commissioner inspected the Panda Gitata road being handled by CEEZALI construction.
Tribune Online recalls that the 50-kilometre road with many bridges was first awarded by the late governor of the state, Akwe Doma but nothing reasonable was done on it.
“Our government is for the people and we shall continue to provide for them to meet their yearnings and aspirations,” the commissioner said.
He said the road which was re-contracted by Governor Sule is awarded in faces with the first 5 kilometers under construction, when completed, it will further decongest the FCT make easy alternative routes and reduce traffic jams on the major routes of the FCT thereby improving the standard of living of the common man.
He added that the road will also provide easy access for the community to sell their farm produce which will boost the economy of the area.
In all the sites visited, the commissioner was received by the construction engineers on site.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the inspection visit, the commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work being executed.
The Gosho expressed confidence that with the speed with which the Governor Sule’s administration is embarking on road construction, the people of the state will certainly enjoy the dividends of democracy.
