The Director General of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr Olushola Odunsanya, has called for teamwork and high productivity among the employees while advocating a proper leadership recruitment process in organisations.
Odunsanya, in his presentation titled Strategic Approach to Mastering Office Dynamics at the Career Progression Conference with the theme “Decoding Office Dynamics,” also disclosed that the education being offered in Nigeria does not prepare students for solving societal needs and challenges.
The DG, however, recommended that for optimal performance in an organisation, there is a need for a clear vision and communication of goals to the employees.
In his interview with journalists, the Convener of the Career Progression Conference, Ambassador Ego Philips, explained that the conference was organised for employees, who are the engine room of every organisation.
Philips further stated that it was organised to train corporate employees on mastering office dynamics to have a positive impact on their organisations while navigating their way up the corporate ladder.
She harped on the need for employees to have good interpersonal relationships, understand the corporate vision, values, and mission of the organisations where they work, and align themselves with the management of these organisations.
Also, the Chairman of Star Sapphire Group, Amu Ogbeide, said that Nigeria needs transformational and strategic-thinking leaders who will mentor young people for national development.
Ogbeide said the theme of the conference, “Decoding Office Dynamics,” underscored the need for proper mentoring of young people and employees at the workplace to enhance productivity and efficient service delivery.
He emphasised the need for both public and private sector operators to be productive in their responsibilities, adding that they need to have vision, values, and vibrancy in their chosen assignments.
In his goodwill message, Major General (retd) Garba Ayodeji Wahab, Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), called on the employees to understand the traditions, culture, and ethics of their organisations.
Wahab also charged the leaders and employees of organisations to be disciplined, diligent, and productive to move the country forward.
