Kano Gov directs Commissioner nominees to declare assets

Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed all the 19 Commissioner nominees must comply with the code of conduct rules.

This was just as Governor Yusuf has approved the reinstatement of Barr. Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, PCACC, to complete his tenure.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Comrade Sanusi Bature, a copy made available on Wednesday to pressmen in Kano.

The statement read: “By this announcement, the nominees are expected to declare assets within the best possible time before their onward screening at the state assembly.”

Governor Yusuf then vowed that no commissioner nominee will be sworn in as a cabinet member without filling out the asset declaration form from the Code of Conduct Bureau.

“All other political appointees under this administration shall also comply with the directive accordingly.”

The Governor wishes to reiterate his commitment to the good people of Kano state that transparency and accountability remain the basic principles of his administration which will be applied to champion good governance as promised in his blueprint during the electioneering campaign.

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf has approved the reinstatement of Barr. Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado as Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, PCACC, to complete his tenure. It will be recalled that Barrister Muhyi was suspended from office by the previous administration in questionable circumstances.

The reinstatement is with immediate effect and in compliance with a court order.
