JELS QUIAH Aims To Spread The Message Of Love With His Forthcoming EP

Published by

Jels J. Rue better known as Jels Quiah was born on September 18 1993 in Monrovia, during the Liberian war and is the only child of a single mother. A singer, songwriter and RnB artiste he and his mother relocated to the U.S in 2002 as refugees escaping the Liberian civil war.

Jels who started recording at the age of 14, is presently working on some new projects for 2021. He says all he wants is to share love and peace and heal the world with his music. “As for me there is no pressure to make or release new music all the time” he says. I love making meaningful music, that will carry or pass across a message and if my music helps pave the way for other artistes especially, Liberian artistes then I will feel fulfilled. I love representing Liberia and Africa with my music, I am proud of my heritage and of being African so I like making it known where I’m from, Jels said. I have experienced war and suffering and I want my music to reflect the lessons I learned from these situations.

Jels who is planning on releasing an extended play album (EP) by Summer says he is already half way done with the songs. “I have some new tunes coming out in the next few weeks. Just been perfecting my craft and sound” he said. His last record ‘Unction’ featuring Davido, Ice Prince and Walsh received good reviews and he wants his next single to top and add to the gains from that record.

He says the recent world interest in afrobeats is helping African artistes as they are getting more recognition from the western world and a lot of them are now looking to collaborate and make music with African acts. So this is a good time to be alive and be an artiste from Africa. My biggest fear is not impacting anyone’s life or guiding them to God with my influence and I hope my next body of work will touch and change the life of anyone who listens to it.

Jels took time off to earn a degree in Business Marketing and Public Relations and currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
