Gombe: 41 suspected criminals arrested in three months — Police

A total number of 41 suspects have been arrested for various criminal offences by the Gombe State Police Command between July and September, 2023.

The Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar while addressing Journalists during a press conference held at the Command Headquarters in Gombe on Thursday, stated that the Command under the watch of CP Oqua Etim, reiterated its commitment towards the safety and security of all citizens and visitors alike within the state.

According to him, “This is in line with the IGP’s vision of proactive led policing strategy towards encouraging community policing, information sharing and the synergy with relevant stakeholders.”

He stressed that during the period under review, between July and September 2023, the Command achieved significant milestones in the fight against crimes and criminalities covering various offenses which included: kidnapping, culpable homicide, rape, armed robbery, thuggery activities and being in possession of dangerous weapons.

“22 of the suspects were arrested for a case of armed robbery with 1 AK47 rifle, infinix phone, a cutlass and Bajaj motorcycle recovered from them.

“Also, 18 of the suspects were arrested for the offences of rape and unnatural and were arrested and investigated just as One suspect was arrested in possession of firearms and ammunitions where 3 AK47 rifles were recovered while 2 suspects were arrested in possession of 5 life ammunitions.

“Furthermore, 11 suspects were arrested for theft and phone snatching with Four different types of mobile phones recovered as exhibits.

“Again, 12 suspects were arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons and causing hurt and Kalare related activities also 7 cutlasses were recovered as exhibits.

“The arrested suspected criminals had in their possession at the point of arrest: 1 Techno mobile Phone , 3 knives and a cutlass.”
