FSTC principal warned against late resumption, bans cellphone

Published by

AS schools prepare for another session, principal, Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Jalingo, Dr Adaramola Mercy Olubunmi has warned students against late resumption or face sanction.

Olubunmi who stated this during her inaugural meeting with the Parent\Teacher Association (PTA) of the college said the measure had become necessary in view of the ugly trend posed to student’s examination performance.

The principal who appreciated the untiring efforts of the PTA in partnering with the college called for greater collaboration to enable them  to restore total sanity the college was known for.

According to her, “this trend is not good enough. Many students resume weeks after the official resumption date. This really affects the subject teacher›s input and students’ performance.’’

She reiterated the need for a change of attitude among students, saying “henceforth, the use of cell phones in the school remains banned.”

Dr Olubunmi solicited support of the PTA to enable her to refurbish some dilapidated facilities.

Meanwhile, the PTA chairman, Elder Paul Pantuvo had promised the principal a cordial working relationship with his members to enable her to succeed in the college.

He also thanked the management and staff of the college for not relenting in their efforts, as issues concerning movement of the college to permanent site, admission of new students and employment of part-time teachers’ top agenda of the meeting.
