Five ways to dispose of unwanted items

Published by

In a few months from now, it will be the end of the year. You may be thinking of ways to let go of old items to make room for new ones. You need not think too far about how to declutter items in the coming months. Here are Five simple steps to dispose of unwanted items.

How do you dispose of things you no longer need before the new year?

  1. Compartmentalise

To get rid of the things you don’t need before the new year, you must be able to differentiate what you must destroy from what you should keep. This will help you to know what to do with what.

  1. Sell them at a discount

This is a good way to monetise the situation. You get to earn money while letting go of the things you no longer need.

  1. Give them out as gifts

This could save you from expenses incurred from wanting to get gifts for people during Christmas or whatever occasion may arise. You could also do a giveaway on social media.

  1. Donate them to charity

You could donate unwanted items that are still in good condition to the needy either directly or through organisations that exist to help the needy.

  1. Recycle them

You can dispose of unwanted items by redesigning them into new things through Do-it-yourself (DIY) hacks. Alternatively, drop them off at recycling points that suit the item. For example, giving a tailor your long-shift dress to make a two-piece or using old furniture to make decorative items.
