Eliminate Boko Haram leader the way you killed IPOB commander, Omokri tells army

Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has challenged the army, DSS and other security agencies to eliminate the leader of Boko Haram in the same manner they killed a top member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), one Commander Ikonso.

Recall that the IPOB members were killed during an early morning raid at Awomama village, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State on Saturday.

Sources told Tribune Online that during the coordinated operation by the security forces the overall commander of the insurgents in the South-East popularly known as Ikonso Commander and six other armed fighters of the insurgent group were neutralised.

According to the source, “the Insurgents are responsible for the attack on the Imo State Police Headquarters and the Headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service on April 5, this year.

Reacting, Omokri challenged the security forces to mete the treatment Ikonso was given on the leaders of terrorist groups in the country.

On Twitter he wrote, “Can’t Nigeria’s Army also take out leaders of Boko Haram, bandits and killer herdsmen troubling Nigeria, the same way they took out alleged ESN leader, Ikonso? Or, are they (security agencies) only strong when it comes to ESN, and weak when it comes to Boko Haram, bandits and herdsmen?”

Both IPOB and Boko Haram have been designated as terrorist groups by the Federal Government.

IPOB has since threatened to retaliate for the killing of its commander.
