Design holistic economic empowerment to mitigate hardship, APC chieftain tells Govs

Published by

Nigerian Governors have been tasked to design holistic economic empowerment initiatives aimed at mitigating the untold hardships and sufferings being experienced by the masses for the common man to have a sense of direction.

The assertion was made by a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi, Alhaji Sunusi Baban Takko while commenting on the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal administration’s one year in office.

Sunusi Baban Takko lamented the lack of deliberate efforts to judiciously utilize the federal government’s resources meant for palliatives to citizens,  welfare for civil servants by increasing their salary schemes as well as social intervention programs in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope Agenda.

According to him, state Governors should therefore prioritise investment in intensive human capital development, agriculture, youth, and women’s economic useful ventures, noting that the move would no doubt bring about sustainable economic growth and end object poverty among the downtrodden.

The politician also called on President Bola Tinubu to hasten the completion of the nation’s refineries and provide special intervention in livestock and agro-allied local industries to boost food processing in the country.

He pointed out that banning the exportation of farm produce by the federal government is apt to ensure food security in the country.

He also opined that emphasis should be given to the revamping of indigenous industries and direct community-based micro-projects to pave the way for improved livelihood conditions.

Sunusi Babba Takko also said that the present administration should form special representatives in the 36  states to further oversee and coordinate numerous Intervention programs of the federal government.

Baban Takko lauded the giant stride of anti corruption crusade of the federal government, and the ongoing road construction projects across the country which according to him are essential towards the socio-economic wellbeing of Nigerians.
