A delegation of 250 market women from the 25 local government areas of Delta state have been feted by the wife of the state governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori.
This is the first time  the group was hosted in  government house by a sitting first lady,  as the meeting was specifically organized to show appreciation for the women’s support during the March 2023 election of her husband, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor of the state.
Addressing the highly excited  female traders in the spirit of the yuletide,
Deaconess Oborevwori who is the founder of “You Matter Charity Foundation,”  disclosed that the get-together would be a continuous affair to foster bonds and establish first-hand interactions with them.
She said “I thank God for His mercies, for giving us the privilege to see after the campaigns and elections. Thank God for giving my husband the mandate to preside over this great state; this victory would not have been possible if you had not given us your support.
“The aim of this event is beyond meeting and greeting, it is to let you know that traders in Delta State mean so much to me and I value them. Also, this event is to act on what I said during the campaigns that we will meet very soon, to deeply appreciate and establish a bond with you. To God be the glory, it has come to pass, and we will continue to celebrate as God gives us the opportunity.”
While encouraging the women to remain resolute in their support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration, she expressed confidence that her husband’s MORE agenda “is for the good of all Deltans and I am certain that we will reap the full benefits of democracy if we support this administration”.
Deaconess Oborevwori  used the occasion to introduce the women to her pet project, assuring  that it has a lot in store, especially for those at the grassroots.
“The scope of the You Matter Charity Foundation ranges from health care to education, women empowerment and  community impact; we have started the journey, I invite you to join the happy train”, she emphasized.
The governor’s wife urged them to improve their businesses with the knowledge gathered from the training session.
She further stressed that they should be an agent of change in their places of assignment, be great ambassadors of Delta State and ultimately, put God first in all they do.
