COVID-19: Sokoto partners Plan International to sensitise stakeholders on vaccines rollout

Sokoto State Government through the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Plan International Nigeria (Global Affairs Canada Funded Project) on Tuesday organised a stakeholder meeting on coronavirus vaccines in Sokoto.

The meeting which was aims at sensitising stakeholders who were drawn from different organisations in the state to be educated on the importance of Covid vaccines, as well as clear the rumour surrounding the Astrazaneca Covid-19 vaccines. 

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Ali Inname, expressed his appreciation to the participants for honouring the invitation to attend the meeting, thanked the organizers for their efforts.

He further revealed that the state government has received over 6,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines with the aim to vaccinate the front line and health workers as the first phase. 

He charged the participants not panic on the safety of the vaccines as it was cleared by all relevant agencies to be safe and have no harm to humans. 

There were several presentations such as Covid-19 Situation reports in the world, Nigeria and particularly Sokoto by the Director Public Health, Dr Abdulrahaman Ahmad. 

Others include Introduction to Covid-19 Vaccines by Dr Larai Aliyu of World Health Organisation (WHO) and other presentations from Plan International and UNICEF. 

The participants were drawn from various organizations in the state, religious institutions, Media houses, Social media organization among others.
