Covid -19: Olugbenle postpones Yewa civic reception, awards

The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, has postponed the civic reception and awards ceremony for distinguished sons and daughters of Yewa, for their contributions to the development of Yewaland and humanity.

The monarch in a statement signed by the Coordinator, Committee of Yewa Groups and Associations, Pastor Obafemi Akinola, said the event planned to hold on Saturday, April 11 had been postponed till further notice.

This development, according to him was as a result of the global pandemic, Covid-19 and the directives from both the federal and state governments, to suspend all activities across the country.

“All recipients/awardees and invited guests to the Civic Reception And Award programme scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2020, which is being organised by the Office of the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and notable groups and association in Yewaland are hereby informed of its postponement due to the Covid -19 pandemic, and a suitable date shall soon be communicated to you all.

“Kabiyesi, Oba Olugbenle however appeals to the people of Yewa, Ogun State and Nigeria at large to adhere strictly to the government directives against the dreaded and pandemic Coronavirus.

”The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland urges us all to stay safe at this time and assured us that this period will surely come to pass,” the statement added.
