CAPOSTO Grams advocates transformative education for future ambassadors

Published by

Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School (CAPOSTO Grammes) in Efon Alaaye, located in the Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State, has emphasised the need for transformative change within schools to produce future ambassadors of the country.

To achieve this, the school has called upon alumni of various schools across the country to support their alma mater in various ways aimed at eradicating poverty and promoting developmental growth.

CAPOSTO’s President General, Dr Adekunle Ojo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made the call on Tuesday during a press briefing to announce the 63rd Founder’s Day anniversary and global reunion festival of CAPOSTO, to be held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Expressing concern about the decay in education and its socio-economic impact on society, Ojo noted the rise of cultism, which was hardly heard of during his university days, now encroaching into primary and secondary schools.

In addressing these issues, he mentioned that old students of CAPOSTO would gather in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, between November 15, 2023, and November 18, 2023.

The purpose of this gathering is to shift the emphasis from the Machiavellian approach, focusing on creating awareness among students about the opportunities ahead and how education can be used to combat poverty.

The 53rd anniversary, themed “Transforming CAPOSTO: The Boulevard Back to the Days of Distinction,” aims to achieve various benefits, including:

Ensuring a plush and strong projection of CAPOSTO’s values, heritage, inspirations, and contributions to the growth of human and educational resources in Ekiti State, Nigeria, and the world.

Attracting students’ attention to the ideals, values, comportments, and qualities of true leaders

stabilising CAPOSTO as a competitive network, acting as a gateway to access top and ethical bureaucrats, policymakers, and political determinants in society.

Creating open doors that will allow CAPOSTO to access international development programmes and be acknowledged as one of the legacy institutions in Ekiti by the Ekiti State Government

Ojo stressed that education is crucial in the fight against poverty and for growth. He emphasised the need to align the citizens’ awareness of the laws and opportunities for growth and prosperity with the education system.

He also urged the decolonization of the educational system in Africa and the prioritisation of teaching needs from basic schools.

Prominent figures such as Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, Prophet Ezekiel Oladeji, Evangelist Bola Are, former Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University Prof. Dipo Kolawole, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan Prof. E.A. Bamgboye, Barr. Olu Daramola, SAN, Pharmacist Olugbenga John Oni, and Taiwo Oni Smith, all old students of C.A.C Grammar School, Efon Alaaye, are expected to grace the anniversary.
