Bandits have reportedly stormed the staff quarters of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at Kaduna airport and kidnapped two airport workers and nine others.
A source told Tribune Online at the weekend that the attack took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The bandits stormed the quarters around 2 a.m. and went straight to the staff quarters of FAAN located within the airport.
It was gathered that the hoodlums gained access to one of the houses and abducted one staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, (NAMA) and nine others who were in his house at the time of the attack.
The source said, “From the house of the NAMA staff, the bandits attacked another house and abducted a staff of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET).
“I can confirm that two staff of NAMA and NiMET respectively were kidnapped. The other ones were a son of one of the staff and eight other visitors. In all 11 people were abducted.”
He also said security had been beefed up in the airport and its surroundings even though findings by Tribune Online revealed that normalcy had since returned to the airport.
Visitors, as well as travellers, were seen coming in and out of the airport, sources further said.
As of the time of filing this report, the police command is yet to make an official statement on the matter.
