The Arewa Youth Development Association has called on the immediate resignation of Ms Hannatu Musa Musawa as the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for taking up ministerial appointments while still serving as youth corps.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the association, through its National President, Comrade Imrana Nas, expressed serious concerns regarding the controversies surrounding her appointment.
According to him, the primary issue raised is her non-completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, which they claim violates relevant laws and the constitution.
The group argued further that her appointment should be considered voidable under these circumstances.
To this end, the Arewa Youths commended the efforts of pressure groups that have taken legal action against this appointment and declared their full support for their cause. They emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law in this matter.
Furthermore, the association cited specific sections of the NYSC Act, which deem it illegal for anyone to govern without completing the NYSC or partially abandoning the National Service, and they called on President Bola Tinubu to relieve Ms Musawa of her ministerial appointment and initiate criminal prosecution.
Thus, the association urged President Tinubu to prioritize the interests of Nigeria and take immediate action to resolve this controversy, drawing parallels with previous cases involving former ministers.
Recall that Musawa has since defended herself from critics, saying no law prevented her from serving as a minister while still doing her Nysc.
