African Instituted Churches celebrate 45 years, predict better future for continent

The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), has celebrated the 45th years of the church with the aim of ensuring the advancement of African Indigenous Christian gathering.

According to the church, though African Instituted Churches have existed centuries ago, the OAIC which was founded in 1978 has the responsibility of bringing all African instituted churches under one umbrella in order to have a strong voice.

Speaking at the programme organised to mark the 45th anniversary of the OAIC, at the Christ Holy Church, Area 1, Abuja, the General Secretary of OAIC International, Reverend Nicta Lubaale, said the celebration means a lot to the church because it is looking at a better future for the African instituted churches.

He said the church is optimistic of an Africa of abundance where there will be remarkable event for the continent and poverty will be alleviated.

“The OAIC was formed in 1978 but African instituted churches have been on the continent for over a century, so we celebrate the 45 years of the organisation that brings together the African independent churches on the continent, we also celebrate the life of the African instituted churches.

“So, this celebration is important for the African Instituted Churches which are the members of the OAIC because we are part of the renaissance of Africa, we are talking about the renewal of African, we are talking about taking charge of our destiny of our present and our future.

“It means a lot for the church, because we are looking at a better future for the African instituted churches, but also a better future for Africa because we are key actors in the spiritual, social and economic lives of this continent.

“It is important for the churches in Africa because we want to see an Africa which is not simply getting out of poverty, but an Africa which is moving into abundance, an Africa which not simply talking about getting out of hunger, but an Africa which is in the contest of food sufficiency everywhere, an Africa where mothers are living good lives”, Reverend Lubaale said.

Also, the National President of OAIC, Nigerian Region and  also the Prelate, Prophet and Supreme Head of Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Worldwide (MCCSW), Israel Akinadewo explained that in the past, the forefathers and mothers of the African Institute Churches came together to form the OAIC in 1978.

He said the aim of forming the OAIC was to eradicate certain things that were working against the growth of the African Instituted Churches.

“Over the years, the forefathers and mothers of indigenous churches in Africa, came together to find a way that they could have common interest to eradicate certain things that were working against the growth of the African Instituted Churches, we realised that our not coming together to find a common ground has undermined our advancement”, Akinadewo added.
