We’ll continue to support our Alma mater ― OGSA Alumni

Published by
Oyemekun Grammar School Akure (OGSA) 86/87/88 Sets Alumni have promised to continue to support the school so as to give attention to its needs.
According to the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the association,  Kunle Oyegoke, said 1986, 1987, and 1988 sets of the Alumni have been giving back to their alma mater for the past five years.
“The government, parents and Teachers Association alone cannot improve the infrastructures in our institutions today,” he said.
He called on all old students to identify the needs in their old schools and give back to their Alma mater.
He said that they have been able to improve the water system in the school by sinking a borehole and reticulating it to parts of the campus.
He said: “In 2018, we renovated a block of six classrooms. This was followed in 2019 with the building of modern toilet facilities for teachers and students, all under the leadership of Dr Olufemi Adu, the founding chairman.
“In 2020, despite the COVID-19, we have been able to renovate a block that has Physics and Geography laboratories under the leadership of Pastor Godwin Akpovie, who took over the mantle of leadership in December 2019.
“As part of the commissioning of projects, the old students come together in an annual reunion dinner, after a visit to the school to identify the project for the next year. This has become a tradition.
“Many of them are in all corners of the world in and out of the shores of Nigeria, but they have a common goal. ‘Giving Back.”
