Tinubu withdraws nomination of Imam Kashim Imam as FERMA Chairman

Published by

President Bola Tinubu has directed the withdrawal of the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

This decision comes following criticisms over the selection of the 24-year-old, inexperienced fresh graduate for the position.

A statement issued on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), states that the President’s withdrawal of the above-mentioned nomination is effective immediately.

It also clarifies that all other appointments to the board and executive management teams of FERMA are unaffected by this directive.

Additionally, the President has approved the appointment of Mr. Muhammed Abu Ibrahim as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF). This appointment is effective immediately.

The President expects the new leadership at the Fund to successfully remove all barriers to efficient access to provisional funding in the sector for proven stakeholders nationwide who will credibly contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda’s mandate in the attainment of complete self-sufficiency in local food production and eventual surplus export.

Another statement by Ngelale announces that President Tinubu has signed the Instrument of Ratification of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Africa.

This protocol was adopted by the Thirtieth Ordinary Session of the Assembly held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the 29th day of January 2018.

Tinubu is quoted as saying on the signing: “I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, do hereby formally declare that the Federal Republic of Nigeria accepts the aforementioned Protocol and undertakes to faithfully perform and carry out the stipulations therein contained;

“In witness whereof, I, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, have set my hand and seal of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on this Instrument of Ratification at Abuja on this 19th day of October in the year Two Thousand and Twenty-Three.”
