Simultaneously performing two or more tasks might seem like you’re getting much more done in less time, but multitasking has been proven to cause a significant drop in productivity. Here are three reasons you should not be multitasking.

Multitasking causes high stress and anxiety: Our brains aren’t built for multitasking. Due to the added pressure of switching from one task to another, the brain puts in more effort to keep up with these tasks and wears itself down, causing an increase in stress.

Multitasking leads to more errors: Multitasking involves splitting your focus between multiple tasks. In most cases, this leads to your work being riddled with blunders and errors as your brain is overworked with completing different assignments simultaneously.

It reduces productivity: It has been scientifically proven that multitasking leads to a 40% drop in productivity. This drop can be detrimental, especially when tasks are too important to mess up.

Although multi-tasking drops your level of productivity, there are hacks to ensure effective multitasking. Remember, it can also be a valuable productivity skill when done strategically.
