The Electoral Committee for the South-West Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congress holding in Osogbo has affirmed the disqualification of Femi Adetola, a contestant as the South West zonal youth leader, for being 49 years of age.
Chairman of the committee, Benson Abounu who gave a report of its appeal panel, maintained that Adetola was disqualified possessing an age above the PDP constitutional provision to be a youth leader.
Abounu quoted Page 107, article 26-27, sub-article 2H of the PDP constitution as prescribing that the youth leader must be between 18 and 40 years.
Adetola had in the form submitted filled 4th September 1972 as date of birth meaning that he is 49 years old.
The concerned candidate, Adetola, who is among the unity list on the Eddy Olafeso side subsequently rose and accepted the disqualification.
The disqualification of Adetola leaves Bamidele Seyi Abiola, on the Taofeek Arapaja side, as the only candidate for the youth leader position.
