Soludo debunks false security alert in Anambra

Published by

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has reiterated his commitment to making the state under his watch, the most livable, prosperous and safest state in Nigeria.

The governor stated this in an interview with Journalists in Awka, on Tuesday, while reacting to a viral video telling travellers coming into the state to avoid some routes from 6 pm.

The video message read, “Nnobi-Ideani-Uke-Ojoto-Umuoji road. My brothers and sisters, no matter what is about to spoil, avoid this route especially from 6 pm and above.

“This route has become a hard nut to crack these days. Two people I know lost their lives to thieves and kidnappers operating on this route. One lady is not walking this minut becaus of her ordeal on this route. They will not just steal from you and let you go, they will make sure they beat you and get you injured especially when you don’t have money.

“If you must pass this route either in commercial vehicle or your own car, prepare your mind. Don’t move with Nokia torch phone, they hate It. If there is no money in your account, they can transfer. If you hear, tell your sisters and brothers, friends.

“Anambra State Government should mount at least 5 Army checkpoints on this route.

Nnobi-Ideani-Uke-Ojoto-Umuoji Road is located in the Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

Debunking the message, Soludo, who addressed journalists through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, noted that no such thing exists in the area and that the state is peaceful, quiet and calm.

He said that the state remains the safest state for every Nigerian irrespective of tribe, ethnicity, religion and for foreign investors, despite a few security challenges facing the country at large.

“The Anambra State Government would like to assure all Ndi Anambra that the security forces are on top of the security situations across the 181 communities in the state.

“The people and government of Anambra State are proud of the record of security agencies especially, the recent incident that lead to the killing of four kidnappers and arrest of others on Sunday night.

He urged Nigerians to disregard the report in the interest of peace, unity and development.
