Rep Jimbo awards N50,000 to 80 students in his constituents

A member of the House of Representatives representing Abak/Etim/Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Clement Jimbo, has gifted 80 students from his constituency studying in different tertiary institutions across the country N50,000 each.

Jimbo also sponsored free medical outreach, from which over 2,000 constituents benefited, with the exercise covering dental surgeries, tooth extraction, medical diagnosis, treatment, and free medications undertaken by different medical professionals.

Besides, the lawmaker equally trained over 100 females in different skills and gave them different starter packs to start their businesses, just as he trained over 70 youths in ICT and empowered them with brand new laptops each to engage themselves to reduce unemployment in the constituency.

Jimbo, who spoke during the bursary disbursement and medical awareness programme, said he did all empowerment in line with his campaign promises tagged “Effective Representation, Responsible Leadership, and Shared Prosperity.”

The lawmaker, who also installed solar street lights across the Federal Constituency and renovated the Village Hall, said that his primary focus in the Green Chamber was effective legislation and the betterment of his constituents, who voluntarily gave him their votes.

He disclosed that his philosophy of life was that leadership was dedicated to the welfare of the people through capacity building, economic empowerment, financial contributions and support, the welfare of the people, and poverty alleviation.

According to him, capacity building, youth development, an improved education system, meaningful women empowerment, and poverty alleviation programmes that will transform the people of Abak Federal Constituency remain his primary objectives, promising to ensure that all good things budgeted for by the government get to his constituents.

“My utmost focus is to better the lot of people who willingly voted me in. By God’s grace, I will ensure every benefit my constituents get from them,” he assured.

Speaking further, Hon. Jimbo explained that 80 students from Ika, Etim Ekpo, and Ika in different tertiary institutions across the county who applied online for the bursary were shortlisted and given the sum of N50,000 each, declaring that there was no issue of godfatherism or bribery involved in getting the bursary payment.

On health care, the lawmaker assured that a robust, healthy life for members of his constituency was of utmost concern to him, hence the need for free diagnosis, treatment, and medication; free dental surgeries; scaling and polishing; tooth gratification; and tooth extraction, among others.

He, however, called on the federal and state governments, the intervention agencies, including the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Niger Delta Ministry, and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, to come to the rescue of Abak Federal Constituency by providing good, accessible roads, quality, drinkable water, and other social amenities for the betterment of his constituents.
