The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex socio-political youth group in the South East geopolitical zone, claims to have uncovered a sinister plot by the presidency to intimidate and harass the judges of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) who have remained steadfast in upholding democracy and have not compromised themselves with the Department of State Service (DSS), ICPC, and other security agencies.
In a statement issued in Owerri on Tuesday by the President General of COSEYL, Hon. Good Luck Ibem, he disclosed that this wicked plot aims to use security agencies to intimidate the judges with false charges, coercing them to succumb to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and deliver a judgment in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the APC.
“The plot was hatched in Aso Rock and is purely meant to undermine the will of the people who came out in their numbers to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice,” he said.
The body called on the international community, the United Nations, all Nigerian youths, and all democracy advocates to rise up and defend democracy in Nigeria as the country stands at a crossroads.
“If the right thing is not done, democracy will be finally buried by the evil actions of the present APC government, which has refused to uphold the rule of law in the country,” Hon. Ibem asserted.
He insisted that it is the collective duty of all Nigerians to reject the planned intimidation and blackmail of the Nigerian judiciary by President Tinubu to do his bidding.
According to him, Nigeria is bigger than one man or a few collective individuals seeking to control it for their own gain.
He warned that Nigerians must take back their country, or else they will be forced to buy fuel at N1000 per litre, despite having crude oil in their nation.
