PASAN shelves strike as Clerk to NASS surrenders

Published by

The Congresses of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has shelved its proposed strike expected to commence, on Wednesday.

The PASAN action was sequel to an agreement between the management of the National Assembly led by Architect Amos Ojo and the workers union under the aegis of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

Findings revealed that the workers discontent was hinged on the failure of the NASS management to implement in full the new national minimum wage/ consequential adjustment and revised conditions of Service in use in the National Assembly Service.

In the Memorandum Of Understanding signed by both parties, they agreed that minimum wage/ Consequential adjustment shall commence, from May and the arrears shall be paid by the Fourth quarter of 2021.

Details of the MOU also revealed that leave allowance at 10 per cent of annual consolidated salary shall be paid to workers on GL-13, between April 19-23,2021, while those on GL- 14, 15,16 shall be paid in May and June, respectively.

Those on GL-17 and above will be paid in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The National Assembly management also agreed to pay hazard allowance at 5 per cent monthly consolidated salary.
Both parties, amongst other resolutions, resolved that “gratuity and other aspects of the Condition of Service shall be captured in the 2022 Budget for further implementation.”
