Osun: INEC presents certificates of return to elected lawmakers

The Osun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, on Thursday, presented certificates of return to the 26 elected members of the Osun House of Assembly with a charge to them not to reproach the confidence bestow on them by the electorates.

While presenting the certificates, the resident commissioner express gladness that, the election was conclusive and there was no any case of supplementary Election in all the 26 constituencies in the state.

He, thereafter, felicitated with all the 26 elected members of the State House of Assembly saying, they should be upright in all their dealings and in their assignments of service to humanity.

Agboke who maintained that, the election of the State House of Assembly was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere, though with few challenges which were surmounted, stated that, the issuance of the certificates was in line with the provision of Section 72 of the Electoral Act 2022.

He remarked, “as we all know, the presentation of certificates of return is in line with the provision of Section 72 of the Electoral Act (2022) which mandated the Commission to issue certificates of return to those who emerged as the winner in the Election conducted on Saturday, March 18, 2023, within 14 days.

“I appreciate the effort of all Inter-Agency Consultative Committee On Election Security (ICCES) members and other stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and conclusive election.”
