One month in office: Gov Umo Eno has impressed Akwa Ibom people — Cleric

Barely one month into his administration, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has won the hearts of many people, including the opposition as he has kept his campaign promises by keeping aside partisan politics for good governance.

It is obvious that even the opposition is happy because of his politics of inclusion, which has satisfied their yearnings.

In his evaluation of his first month in office, a popular cleric of the African Church in the state, Rev. Richard Peters, describes the governor’s performance as impressive and focused.

Also, contributing to a popular program “Paper Per View” anchored by a private radio station in Uyo on Thursday and monitored by our Correspondent, the Clergy highlighted that even the opposition parties are also impressed with the style of governance of the new governor.

The Clergy, who is also a good governance advocate, highlighted some of the achievements of the governor who clocked one month in office today including payment of accumulated leave grants of primary school teachers up to 2022, assuaging the aggrieved pioneer retired permanent secretaries who had sued the government to court over discrepancies in their welfare packages and floating a foundation to cater for the educational endowment of physically challenged students in the state.

“The governor has also started the rehabilitation of the roads around Akpan Andem market while the deplorable Loretta school road is on the radar. As we speak, he has endorsed a deal with a Turkish firm to improve the Agricultural sector of the state”.

The cleric maintained that the incumbent governor started strong and looks poised to keep his campaign promises judging from the sincerity and transparency with which he manages the affairs of the state.

“He is already reaching out to small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, visit Apico house and see the increasing list of farmers earmarked to benefit from Agricultural support and facilities among several other things the administration has done within one month in office,” he added.

Rev. Peters, who hinted that Umo Eno’s administration will harvest dividends of democracy for the people, called for sustained support and prayers for the governor and the new administration.

“In his quest to ensure a peaceful polity to guarantee growth development and progress, the governor has built bridges and synergies across partisan lines as could be seen by his recent gestures since the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President”.

He also appealed to politicians and people jostling for one position or favour from the administration to give the governor more time as every interest will be adequately captured.
