One killed, as rival cult groups clash in Ibadan

A member of a notorious cult gang has been shot dead by a rival group during a clash at Agbowo in Ibadan North local government area.

It was gathered there was an exchange of gunshots, while dangerous weapons were used during the clash which lasted for close to one hour.

Business and other legal activities were paralysed with the popular UI-Ojoo road was deserted during the period.

Residents and passers-by scampered for safety while suspected cultists took over the area.

A yet-to-be-identified cult member was killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Narrating her experience, a young female trader at Agbowo UI who claimed anonymity said a regular customer at her mother’s shop had earlier alerted her on the need for her to close early.

She claimed the warning was taken with a pinch of salt until late in the night when gunshots and stampede, earlier experienced in the afternoon resumed later in the night leading to the death of a cult member

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident, adding that it is being investigated.
