The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said on Sunday there was no robbery or kidnapping attack in the state, describing the media report circulating as fake and untrue.
Adeleye, who stated this in a statement personally signed by him, said no citizen of the state was attacked or kidnapped, saying the report that bandits invaded a community in the state was a ruse, false, and unfounded but targeted at causing chaos in the state.
He said the Amotekun Corps has commenced 24-hour surveillance in the state ahead of the Yuletide period and ember month to ensure the people of the state sleep with their two eyes closed.
The statement read: “The attention of the Ondo State Security Network Agency is drawn to fake news, as quoted above, trending on social media, credited to a national newspaper that surprisingly published such an unfounded report.
The fake news has no basis, as there have been no kidnapping or robbery cases in recent times. We are currently on a 24-hour, seven-day ember-month patrol with huge success stories.”
“It has been observed that the story that bandits invaded the Ondo community was a ruse, false, unbalanced, and, as well, unfounded, targeted at causing chaos in the state.
“It is so obvious that the writer of the story did so for selfish gain from a quarter, whose main intention was to dowse the morale of the corps in the state over such a mischievous write-up.
“We advise the general public to ignore such fake news and go about their legitimate businesses as the Akoko area of the state is safe for movement as the joint security agencies are fully on the ground to ensure the safety of lives and properties.”
