NBTE Boss, Dr Masaudu Kazaure
THE National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval to the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, to commence Open and Distance Learning (ODL) progranmes.
The rector of the institution, Dr John Taiwo Adekolawole, made this disclosure in a statement made available by the public relations officer of the polytechnic, Mr Sola Lawal.
According to him, the approval was contained in a letter by the executive secretary of NBTE, Dr. Mas’ud Kazaure, to the polytechnic informing it of the approval and details.
He said the approval was limited to accredited programmes run by the polytechnic and must also be in strict compliance with the national Technical and Vocational Education policy and strategy on ODL.
By the development, he said the polytechnic is expected to develop an interactive online platform for the new learning mode with the requisite tools and resources that would support and enhance the delivery and management, as well as having 24/7 student support package.
Noting that the practical and examination sessions would be on face-to-face traditional mode of learning, the rector lauded the approval, saying it has further laid credence to the conscious efforts of the institution to strengthen quality of learning as well as to prepare students ready as solvers of societal problems.
