Nasarawa guber: Tribunal admits 207 BVAS machines as PDP evidence

The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, on Thursday, admitted 207 BVAS machines and the certified true copies of BVAS Machines screenshot print-outs showing accreditation of voters for the 18th March, 2023 Governorship Election in the Polling Units in Ashige Ward of Lafia LGA, in which entire results were wrongly cancelled by INEC at the Lafia Local Government Collation Centre.

The BVAS machines and accreditation screenshot print-outs were produced in Court by a representative of INEC pursuant to the subpoena issued on INEC on 12/07/23 by the Tribunal upon the application of the Petitioners. The subpoenaed witness had earlier been designated as PW7.

INEC explained that of the 2018 BVAS machines requested by the Tribunal, 8 were snatched during the election while 3 were not used because there were no registered voters in the polling units.

Other witnesses who testified at the day’s proceedings were the Petitioners’ Agent for Chiroma Ward and the Petitioners’ Lafia LGA Agent for the 2023 Nasarawa State Governorship Election.

The PDP Lafia LGA Agent designated as PW17 told the Court that he refused to sign the Lafia LGA result summary sheet (Form EC8C) because the scores transferred from the forms EC8Bs (Ward summaries) were not a correct summation of the votes scored by the candidates at the Polling Unit level as clearly shown on the Polling Unit results (Forms EC8As) which correspond with the I-ReV copies already admitted in evidence before the Court.

The witnesses, in the course of their testimony, all identified and confirmed the Electoral forms and materials already admitted as exhibits which they referred to in their evidence in support of the Petition.

After listening to the Petitioners’ witnesses, the Tribunal adjourned the matter to Friday, 28th July for the continuation of the hearing.
